Terms and Conditions

Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the La Porte Concrete Company website and any work you hire us to do. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them, so if you don't agree, please don't use the site or book work with us.
In these terms, "we," "us" and "our" mean La Porte Concrete Company, and "you" means the person using the site or hiring us. A signed estimate or contract for your job is part of this agreement, and where it says something different from these terms, the signed document wins for that job.
What we do
We're a concrete contractor in La Porte, IN. We pour and repair flatwork, which covers driveways, patios, sidewalks and garage floors, and we also build steps, retaining walls, footings and foundations. The full list is on our home page, and you can read more about our crew on our About page.
What you read on this website is general information to help you understand the work. It isn't a quote or a promise about your project, because every job depends on the ground, drainage and access at your house, and we can only judge those once we've seen them.
Estimates and pricing
Estimates are free, done on site and obligation-free. We base each one on what we see the day we visit, including the size of the area, the condition of the subgrade, which is the soil and base the slab sits on, the thickness and finish you choose, and how easily our trucks and equipment can reach the spot.
The prices on your estimate hold for the period written on it. If we find something once the old concrete is out or the ground is open, like soft soil, buried debris or roots, we'll stop, show you what we found and tell you what fixing it costs before we do any extra work. We don't add charges you haven't approved.
Your part of the job
You're responsible for showing us where your property lines are and for having the right to have the work done on that property. If you're not sure where a line runs, settle it before the pour, because moving concrete later is expensive.
Please point out any private underground lines, like sprinkler pipes, buried pet fences or outdoor lighting wires, because public utility marking doesn't cover those. We aren't responsible for damage to private lines we weren't told about.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We give you a start date when you book and do our best to hold it. Rain, freezing temperatures or hard heat can push a pour back, because pouring in the wrong conditions leaves a weaker slab, and if that happens we'll call you and set a new date as soon as we can.
After the pour, the slab needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk and drive on it, and we aren't responsible for damage from using it sooner or from people, pets, vehicles or weather getting on it while it cures.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (219) 258-7141 as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered materials or started prep work, we may charge for those costs as your contract spells out.
Payment
Any deposit and the date the balance is due are written on your estimate or contract. If your contract doesn't say otherwise, the balance is due when the work is finished.
If a payment is late, we may pause work until it's paid, and you'll owe the reasonable costs of collecting it where Indiana law allows. We may also file a lien on the property where state law allows it.
Warranty and what concrete does on its own
We stand behind our work, and any written warranty for your job is on your contract. Beyond that written warranty, and as far as Indiana law allows, we make no other promises about the work or this website, spoken or implied.
Concrete can crack even when it's done right. We cut control joints, which are grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, so most cracks follow lines we chose. Hairline cracks, slight color differences and surface wear from de-icing salt aren't defects, and neither is settling caused by things outside our control, like drainage changes after we leave, tree roots or ground movement.
Limits on our responsibility
As far as Indiana law allows, our total responsibility for any claim tied to a job is limited to what you paid us for that job. We aren't responsible for indirect losses, like lost use of your driveway, lost income, or damage caused by other people or by work we didn't do.
We also aren't responsible for problems that come from using this website, including errors in its content or the sites it links to. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that Indiana law says can't be limited.
Settling a disagreement
If something isn't right, call us first at (219) 258-7141. Most problems get fixed fastest when we come out and look at them with you.
If we can't work it out between us, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before either side goes to court.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana. Any court case would be filed in an Indiana court in the county where the work was done.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies. Changes don't affect a contract you've already signed.
If you have questions about these terms, call (219) 258-7141 or send us a message through our Contact page. Expect a reply within 1 business day.
