An owner-run concrete crew, started in 2023

We're licensed and fully insured. Homeowners call us most, along with property and business owners who need a slab, a foundation or a lot poured, and they all get a job done right the first time, because once concrete sets you don't get a do-over. You can read more about me and how we work.

About our business

I learned concrete under a strict, old-school boss who made us tear out anything that wasn't right. I started La Porte Concrete Company here in 2023, and three years in I still run the crew myself and answer my own phone.

Concrete contractor services in La Porte, IN

La Porte Concrete Company is a concrete contractor in La Porte, IN, with 16 services covering homes, businesses and building sites. Most calls start with cracks, sinking or pooling water, or with a new slab, wall or foundation somebody needs. Your price moves with the size and thickness of the pour, how much old concrete comes out and how much work the ground needs first. The schedule turns on the weather, any permit check and curing, the wait while fresh concrete gains strength before it takes feet or tires. I come out, look at the job and write your estimate on site, so you get your own figures.

  1. Concrete driveway extends to a double garage, with a broad light gray slab divided by control joints.

    Concrete driveway building

We dig out, pack the base and pour new driveways, sloped so rain runs off instead of back toward your garage.

  2. Stamped concrete patio with a gray stone pattern extends beside a house, bordered by low stone walls and steps.

    Concrete patio construction

Want a spot out back for a grill and chairs? We build concrete patios on a packed base, pitched so rain runs away from the house.

  3. Curved stamped concrete patio with a stone-like pattern surrounds a small gravel-filled fire pit in a fenced lawn.

    Stamped concrete services

Stamped concrete is pressed and colored while it's fresh, so a patio or walkway looks like stone or brick without the loose pieces.

  4. Concrete driveway in front of a stone house with three dark garage doors and a broad sunlit slab.

    Concrete sidewalk building

We build front walks and sidewalks with a broom finish, a light ridged texture that gives shoes some grip when it's wet or icy.

  5. Garage with a light speckled concrete floor, storage cabinets, a ladder, and a bicycle.

    Garage floor concrete

Garage floor cracked, chipping or sinking? We tear it out, fix the ground under it and pour a new slab built to carry your cars.

  6. Circular gray concrete-block fire pit on a stamped concrete patio, with a low stone wall behind it.

    Decorative concrete

Decorative concrete adds color, exposed stone and custom borders to patios, walks and entries, for homeowners who want the concrete to suit the house.

  7. Curved concrete retaining wall holds a rock-covered garden beneath a large evergreen tree.

    Concrete retaining walls

We pour concrete retaining walls that hold back a sloped yard and give you level ground for a garden, a patio or a parking spot.

  8. Stamped concrete patio with a warm brown tile pattern beside a brick house and white columns.

    Concrete floor installation

We pour interior concrete floors for basements, shops, barns and commercial spaces, finished smooth and flat so carts roll easily and the floor sweeps clean.

  9. Concrete pool deck borders a blue swimming pool, with stone retaining walls, landscaping and a garden slide.

    Concrete pool decks

What goes around a pool? We pour concrete decks with a textured surface for grip under wet feet, sloped so splash water drains off instead of sitting.

  10. Outdoor steps with dark treads and inset lights rise between pale block retaining walls on a landscaped slope.

    Concrete steps construction

We form and pour new front and back steps with even risers and steel inside, so every step feels the same underfoot and the set feels solid.

  11. Stamped concrete patio with a gray stone pattern surrounding a built-in fire pit and stone seating wall.

    Slab foundation building

We build slab foundations for homes, additions, garages and outbuildings, with the ground dug out and packed firm before the forms go up and the pour starts.

  12. A speckled concrete patio extends from a brick house, with timber pergola posts and a pebble border.

    Foundation installation

Building a house, an addition or a commercial building? We dig, form and pour the foundation it stands on, checked for level before any concrete arrives.

  13. A curved stamped concrete patio with irregular tan stone patterns sits beside green grass and a black metal chair.

    Concrete parking lot building

We build concrete parking lots for businesses and property owners, with a base and thickness made for daily traffic and slopes that carry rain to the drains.

  14. A broad stamped concrete patio has a gray-brown rectangular stone pattern beside a lawn and pond.

    Concrete footings

Footings are the wide concrete pads under walls, posts and decks that spread the weight into firm ground. We dig and pour them for builders and homeowners.

  15. A light concrete pool deck with a white pergola, patio furniture, and potted palms borders a swimming pool.

    Foundation raising

Is a slab or foundation settling and cracking? We lift it back toward level and fill the gap underneath so it has solid support again.

  16. A wood-look stamped concrete porch runs beside a stone-faced house, furnished with dark chairs and planters.

    Concrete cutting

Need an opening, a trench or a bad section cut out? We saw-cut concrete cleanly, and we cut control joints, grooves that tell a new slab where to crack.

How I run your job

Most concrete problems trace back to a call somebody made before the pour. These are the ways I make sure those calls get made right, with you in the loop. If that's how you want your job run, call (219) 258-7141.

  • You deal with me from the first visit to cleanup

I come out to look at the job, write the estimate and run the crew through the pour and cleanup myself. You get quick answers, and nothing gets lost passing between people.

  • A straight answer on site, even when it's the simpler job

I'll tell you on the spot what I'd do and why. If a smaller repair or a plainer finish makes more sense for your house or lot, you'll hear that from me first.

  • Permits checked before we dig

Before work starts we check with the office that covers your address, and if your job needs a permit or contractor registration, we take care of it so the work doesn't stall halfway. Inside La Porte, building permits run through the city's Engineering office, and applications go in online.

  • Pour day set by the concrete, not our calendar

We pick the pour date around the weather and what fresh concrete needs to come out strong. A slab rushed out in midday heat can end up with a weak, dusty top, so we'd rather move the date.

Concrete pool deck surrounds a rectangular blue swimming pool, with textured gray paving, metal ladders and lounge chairs.

Why we spend the effort under the slab

Every concrete job comes down to a trade-off between the base and the finish, and the base usually loses because it's hidden on day one, so it's the first thing people want to cut from the budget. I come down on the side of the base, because a nice finish on loose dirt settles and cracks right along with it, and nobody can dig under a slab later to fix it.

So we dig down to firm ground and pack the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, instead of raking dirt level. We check where your water runs so the new concrete slopes away from the house, set rebar, the steel inside that holds a slab together, where the job calls for it, and cut the control joints on time so any cracking lands on lines we chose. Concrete can still crack, and I'll be honest with you about that, but my old boss taught me to take a hard look before the pour instead of making excuses after it.
